Healing Garden

Human beings consist of body, mind, and spirit. Every day parishioners confront a variety of adversities. Some experience physical pain and illness; mental pain and anxiety; some experience spiritual pain.  For 15 years, the Healing Garden at Risen Christ has provided a quiet place to be refreshed, healed, meeting God in nature.

Volunteer work and contributions of parishioners have grown the garden over these years, without use of parish funds.  In 2017, a generous contribution allowed us to create a permanent labyrinth, a means of walking meditation and prayer used for centuries. The garden now includes a statue of Our Lady of Grace, plants for butterflies, birds and bees, shaded area benches for relaxation and contemplation.  It is used by parish groups and others in the neighborhood, especially during the pandemic.

Our Healing Garden always needs volunteers to maintain, weed, and plant!  Volunteers need not be expert gardeners.  If you can wield a rake, pull a weed, prune a bush or plant a bulb, we are glad to have you join us!  We have group garden work-days several times per year, and opportunities to work peacefully alone.
