The Knights of Columbus is the world's largest Catholic fraternal service organization. Founded by Father Michael J. McGivney in New Haven Connecticut in 1882. It was named in honer of the mariner Christopher Columbus. The focus of the Knights of Columbus is charity work both locally and internationally. The Risen Christ Council's primary charitable effort is the Medical Equipment Program. This program takes donated medical equipment of all types and refurbishes it and then donates it free of charge to anyone in need of the equipment for as long as they need it. In 2016 this program serviced approximately 3500 people.
The Risen Christ council has approximately 75 members.
