Religious Education PreK-6

Welcome to Risen Christ Parish's Religious Education!

Classes are underway!  Please contact Angela Paz if you have children to register.

Pre-Kindergarten through 6th Grades Elementary Faith Formation-Sundays, 9:00-10:15 a.m.

These classes help children from year to year to develop their connection and understanding of their faith. The classes prepare some children to make Sacraments (First Reconciliation/Communion) and they provide  ongoing lessons of faith for each year.  Join us in Family Faith Events this year too!

What is Religious Education?

Religious Education is our family support in raising your Catholic family. As the heads of their family, parents are the first teachers of the faith. We do what we can to support you as you journey ahead with your family, nurturing the domestic Church.

At our parish, we have Religious Education classes for children from Pre-Kindergarten through 6th grade. These classes meet each week on Sundays from 9:00-10:15 a.m. beginning in September and running through May. Many children in the program use these classes to supplement their own faith formation. The classes become their Religion class as they grow.

For some children, these classes also serve to prepare them to make sacraments: Baptism, First Reconciliation, and First Communion.

In addition to these classes and sacramental preparation, our Religious Education program also throws events and celebrations throughout the year: All Saints' Day, Advent Fair, Lenten Stations of the Cross, and May Crowning, to name a few.

If you would like to nurture a deeper love of Jesus and a more knowledgeable connection to our Catholic faith, consider signing your family up for Religious Education classes!

From "Dear Pope Francis: The Pope Answers Letters from Children Around the World:""Why do you think children have to go to Catechesis (religious education)?" - Ana Maria, age 10, from Brazil "You go to catechism to get to know Jesus better! If you have a friend, you enjoy being with him and getting to know him better. You enjoy being with your friend, playing together and getting to know his family, his life, where he was born, and where he lives. This is a good thing. Religious education classes help you get to know your friend Jesus better and his great family, the Church."    - Pope Francis, as a response to Ana Maria
